About me
Ashraf Hassan is a senior geologist. I have many years of experience in the field of geology in Sudan, KSA and UAE. work in the Oil and gas, Minerals, Groundwater, Geotechnical and Environmental industry.
Experience in the oil fields in Mud Logging include drilling and all associated drilling operations in the hole location (rig down, rig move, rig up, install the sensors in rig floor and pit system, rig up for gas system and calibration for all systems in the unit of Mud Logging in rig site.
Experience in the field of Minerals, work in drilling and extracting gold and describing the cutting samples.
Experience in Groundwater field (choosing well sites, drilling operation, geophysical wireline logging, install casing, cementation, pumping test program, water sampling and preparing final well report).
Experience in the Geotechnical field.
Experience in Environmental field, Remediation (Air, soil, and water) (inject and storge CO2, collected contaminated soil and extract contamination of oil from the groundwater).
– I work as a drilling geologist at Lebanese Sudanese Drilling Co. (1998 to 2001).
– As a QC geologist and material engineer at MAM for roads, bridges, and ready-made concrete (2001 to 2004).
– As geologist (Mud logger) at Zhongyuan Petroleum Exploration Bureau (ZPEB) Chinese company in oil field (2004 to 2005).
– As a geologist (Sample catcher, Mud logger, data engineer, senior technical data engineer, team leader and pressure engineer) at Data log Oil Technology Canadian company in oil field (2005 to 2012).
– I worked with Ministry of Minerals (Sudan), General Authority for Geological Research, Technical Direction, (2012 to 2012).
– I worked as senior geologist with ATC Miahona (Riyadh, Kingdom Saudi Arabia), (2012 to 2013)
– As a senior geologist and team leader with CDM Smith in KSA (2013 to 2020)
– I work as a senior geologist with Technology and Development Solutions (TDS) Company for Water and Environment in KSA and with Aamaq Geological and Geophysical Consulting Company in UAE (Dubai) (Branch of TDS in Dubai) (April 2021 to August 2022).
– Finally, I work as Senior Environmental Geologist and site supervisor with Special Environmental Projects Company (SEP) in KSA, Dammam (Sep 2022 up to date).

Senior Environmental Geologist
Responsibilities:
* Work in Aramco Jazan Bulk Plant project for remediation, I follow all operation in the field (Drilling, install casing, clean the hole and well completion) as per Aramco standard) for groundwater monitoring wells, and extraction for contamination (product) with mobile extraction system from the new drilled and existing wells at the bulk plant.* Work in Aramco pilot project for CO2 Injection and Storge, I work as a field supervisor and environmental geologist for all the operation, the project for inject and storage the CO2 in the fracture of igneous rocks, the system of injection based for circulation of water between 2 water wells, inject the CO2 while this circulation to dissolve the CO2 in water and monitoring the CO2 injection system.
Responsible for the CO2 project technically, administratively, and financially in front of my company (SEP), and in front of Aramco, technically regarding the workflow and documenting field operations, collecting water samples with filtration part of water, tracer testing, measure the water level and CO2 concentration reading in both of wells (productive and injection well), take a water parameter (Ec, TDS, ORP, pH and Temp) and sending daily operation reports for Aramco managers.
(The project is a cooperation between Aramco and KAUST).* Work in Aramco Ras Tanura Terminal North Plant, and Juayamah Tank Farm plant the project for DETAILED GEOTECHNICAL SITE INVESTIGATION FOR BI-10-00930 – UPGRADE TANK DEWATERING SYSTEMS, the project for Nesma & Partners Contracting Co. Ltd, we drill 5 locations for groundwater monitoring wells, I follow all operation in the field (Drilling, install casing, clean the hole and well completion) as per Aramco standard.
* Work in Aramco Al-Hasa Bulk Plant project for remediation, I follow all operation in the plant, gauging and measuring the water column and contamination in the monitoring wells, then extraction the contaminated hydrocarbons material in those wells with a mobile extraction system.
All these activities regarding to Saudi Aramco Environmental Protection Department (EPD).
I have a work permit (WPR) in Aramco fields, after I took an exam and succeeded with a score of 94%.

Senior geologist
In KSA, monitor and control drilling operations (drilling, description for the cutting samples, geophysical logging, install casing, pumping test and water sampling), Supervision and installation of climatic stations, rain stations, floods stations and water loggers, also measurement of water level in the groundwater wells and make monthly report in Project of the Operation and maintenance hydrological network in the Kingdom.
In UAE, with Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD) in the major project Hydrogeological Mapping for United Arab Emirates, my responsibility is to conduct the pumping test in field (install pump, diver and monitoring the water level and discharge rate while pumping and controlled the valve of discharge line and record raw data {(discharge rate and dynamic water level, then recovery data after switch off pump), processing the raw data using the AQTESOLV analysis software and extracting the curve graphs and required values} finally make a technical report. Attend technical meetings with the client and discuss workflow and challenges.
And with Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in project of installation Flash Flood Monitoring Station Discharge Keeper Camera in the 10 sites to cover all the wadis in the United Arab Emirates.

Responsibilities:
Monitor and control drilling operations, well design and specifications to be complying with contract agreement and MEWA specifications and requirements.
Delivery of drilling sites (used GPS) with the ministry representative to the contractor and choosing good and stability of the drilling site in field, follow-up drilling operations {(drilling methods (rig cable tools, hammer rig by foam and water pressure in hard formations), control for ROP, make a description for the cutting samples and reported}, Geophysical Logging (evaluate the logging data like resistivity, porosity, density, caliper, and gamma-ray reading), Casing (make a design for well regarding to lithology cutting and water zone and level of water, prepare the casing tally, and supervision while installation), Cementation (calculate the volume of cement regarding to Caliper Log), Aquifer Testing (check the pump specification, curve, what depth of pump to installed, control of the pumping, measured the recovery of hole), and water sampling (measurements the water quality, Ec, Ph, Temp, Radon) in the major project for Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MoEWA) (Detailed Water Resources Studies in All Al-Harrat within the Kingdom and in Main Valleys of the Arabian Shield Located East of Al-Hijaz Mountains), carried out by the consortium of CDM A & BRGM.
Choice Monitoring wells (40 wells) from all groundwater wells (117 hole) we drilled in the project in the study area (Harrats and Wadis) and then installation the diver’s (water logger) (CTD-diver, DXT, diver gate) in 33 wells, Supervision and installation of climatic stations, rain stations and floods stations, and finally deliver reports and information request accurately and within the required time scale in this regard, the drilling and all operation done in all of the 12 Harra (Al Harra, Uwayrid, Ashshaqa, Hutaymah, Khaybar, Hirma, RAHAT, Kishb, Hadan, Nawasif, Al Birk and As Sarat).– Scouting the Existing Wells for Pump Test and Water Sampling.
– Assistant project manager in technical issues and follow up the field operations with the field staff.

Senior Geologist (Technical Data Engineer & Team Leader)
Working gradually in positions as geologist from sample catcher up to technical data engineer and team leader on rig site.
– As Sample Catcher (10 Jan 2005 to 28 Feb 2005), my responsibility is collect the cutting samples from the Mud Shale Shaker, clean the sample and prepare it for the Microscope description, packing the wet and dry samples (dry by oven) in the pages.
– As Mud Logger (Mar 2005 to Aug 2006), my responsibility is describing the cutting samples under Microscope and ultraviolet box (oil shows) and entering the description data in system (Master Log) with take into consideration the rate of penetration (ROP), drilling parameters (WOB, RPM, Pressure) and the gases.
– As Junior Data Engineer (Aug 2006 to Nov 2006), management and supervision of the unit in one of the shifts (usually in day shift), my responsibility is monitoring the drilling operations and checking the sensors in the rig while drilling.
– As Senior Data Engineer (Nov 2006 to Sep 2008), as above, but increase my responsibility to all the unit including all equipment and personals in the unit.
– As Technical Data Engineer & Team Leader (Sep 2008 to Feb 2012), my responsible for all people working in the field site (Unit, 6 peoples), safety, data evaluation, all equipments in unit (data server, gas system, computers, all sensors in rig to monitoring the hole), maintenance any part of unit and coordinate with the client representative in site (drilling supervisor & geological supervisor) and connecting the monitoring screen to client’s, rig manager and driller, daily drilling report (midnight report) & geological reports and final well report (in the end of well), and make unit inventory to send good require to my office if diminuend anything’s in preparation for the next well, then prepare the unit to moving from site to another site.
Also, I am responsible for any units in the oil field if troubleshooting happens.
Working in the Exploration and Production oil wells (vertical and horizontal).
